‘Untyeyetwelye’ is a special place to the Aboriginals and the site of the ANZAC Hill War Memorial. Great views of Heavitree Gap and Mount Gillen.

Megafauna Central showcases the unique megafauna of Central Australia of the Miocene epoch from the Alcoota Scientific Reserve.

This is an example of an ‘Arid Zone Botanic Garden’ in the Northern Territory. Keep your eyes peeled for the Euro and wallabies (usually seen on the hills).

The original site of the first European settlement in the region. There are also a number of walks to be enjoyed. There is also bike hire, cafe and kiosk.

A number of fascinating attractions in one unique location, including the Araluen Arts Centre (incorporating the Albert Namatjira Gallery), Museum of Central Australia and Aviation Museum.

Introduction to Australia’s desert, the landscapes, animals and plants of central Australia’s and their traditional use and management by the Aboriginal people. There are walk-in aviaries and enclosures, including the Red Kangaroo enclosure. Make sure you catch the Birds of Prey Show and check-out the Nocturnal House. There is also the Nocturnal Tour - makes sure you ask about the tour when you purchase your entry ticket.

 — Earth Sanctuary is just 15 minutes south-east of Alice Spring on Colonel Rose Drive.

They offer day and night tours including a dinner and show, as well as catering for special events and tailored tours. They also offer astronomy tours.

 — Exploration time: couple of hours or more, especially for the motoring transport enthusiast.

About 10 km south of town, National Road Transport Hall of Fame, the Old Ghan Train Railway Museum and the magnificent Kenworth Dealer Truck Museum collectively make up the most comprehensive land transport museum in the southern hemisphere.

There are no self-drives to the Sanctuary to ensure protection of the natural environment. Check their website as guided tours are only available on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – you will need to ensure you book in advance.
